Borussia Dortmund snatched a dramatic last-gasp win through Waldemar Anton to beat Hoffenheim 3-2 on Saturday.

Niko Kovac's side had conceded a 90th-minute equaliser, but the defender's late intervention boosted their chances of making next season's Champions League with three games left.

Their top scorer, Serhou Guirassy, slotted in the opener 20 minutes in after good work from Julian Brandt, and he claimed his 17th league goal of the season.

He could have added another 14 minutes later as Leo Ostigard fouled Jamie Gittens in the box, but Oliver Baumann easily saved Guirassy's low and weak penalty.

Hoffenheim responded after the break, with Adam Hlozek controlling the ball with his chest to fire in the equaliser just past the hour-mark.

Dortmund recovered and regained their lead in the 74th minute. Brandt timed his shot to perfection, scoring with a lovely one-touch volley at the far post after Daniel Svensson's superb second assist of the day.

Hoffenheim thought they had secured a draw when Pavel Kaderabek headed in an equaliser as the clock struck 90, but there was one last twist in the tale.

Dortmund kept up the pressure before carving out the winner. Anton slotted into an empty goal with seconds left to play for the winner, lifting Dortmund to sixth place on 48 points, with their fourth win in the last five league games.

Data Debrief: Dortmund leave it late

Dortmund stretched their unbeaten streak to five games in the Bundesliga, their best run of results since November-December last year.

They have also won their last five matches against Hoffenheim away from home - it is the first time the hosts have suffered five straight top-flight defeats on home soil against any team.

It was an open game, with both teams putting up a fight in the attacking third. Dortmund had 16 attempts worth 2.51 expected goals (xG), hitting the target with eight of them.

Hoffenheim, meanwhile, managed to get three of their 11 efforts on target as they created 1.34 xG.
